Day 1: Saturday 5 September 2015 Arrive Prague.
Welcome to Prague, one of Europe’s magical cities. Situated on the banks of the River Vltava in central Bohemia, this beautiful city is rich in history and is home to some of the world’s most pristine collections of architecture. You will be met at Prague International Airport and transferred* to your centrally located hotel. This evening meet your Tour Director and fellow travellers for a welcome drink. Three Night Stay: Prague or similar.
Day 2: Sunday 6 September 2015 Prague Sightseeing HD (FB,HD).
This morning we explore the sights of the Old Town Square on a guided walking tour. We see Mozart´s Theatre, Little Square and Astronomical Clock. We continue our tour and walk across the Charles Bridge spanning the River Vltava, to board our coach to drive to the 1,000–year–old Prague Castle area. With our local guide we walk through Hradcany Square to witness the Changing of the Guard, see the magnificent Loreta Monastery, and arrive at Hradcany Castle. Here we see Old Kings Palace & St. George´s Monastery. This evening we experience a night of dancing and entertainment at a Czech Highlight Dinner in a local tavern.
Day 3: Monday 7 September 2015 Prague Day at Leisure (FB).
Your Tour Director is on hand to help plan your day’s exploring. The baroque quarter of Mala Strana is a must see, as is Josefov, the Jewish quarter. Day 4: Tuesday 8 September 2015 Prague– Budapest Embarkation HD (FB,HD).
This morning travel by coach from Prague to Budapest. A warm welcome awaits you from your Captain and crew as you board your luxury Evergreen Tours river cruise ship. This evening join your fellow travellers for a welcome cocktail reception followed by a night–time cruise along the Danube, passing under the city’s numerous illuminated bridges, whilst enjoying a traditional Hungarian welcome dinner complete with folk dancing and music.
Day 5: Wednesday 9 September 2015 Budapest (FB,L,D) Budapest is Eastern Europe’s liveliest and most cosmopolitan city. Enjoy a guided tour of the city sights including the Royal Palace of Buda, hilltop castle complex with Fisherman’s Bastion and the Matthias Church, and the Chain Bridge linking Buda and Pest. This afternoon you have free time before departing for Bratislava.
Day 6: Thursday 10 September Bratislava (FB,L,D)
This morning we arrive in Bratislava, capital of the Republic of Slovakia. Enjoy a sightseeing tour including the enchanting Old City with its Town Hall, Mirbach Palace and the Gothic Cathedral of St Martin. You’re Invited: The highlight will be a home hosted afternoon tea with a local Slovakian family.
Day 7: Friday 11 September 2015 Vienna (FB,L,D)
Today we explore Austria’s capital beginning with a drive along the Ringstrasse, where we will see Vienna’s world–famous Opera House, Burgtheatre, Spanish Riding School, Town Hall, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Hofburg Imperial Palace. Day 8: Saturday 12 September 2015 Dürnstein – Melk (FB,L,D)
In the morning we arrive in Dürnstein, one of the most enchanting villages of the Wachau wine region. This is the site of the castle where Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned after returning from the crusades in the 12th century. Drive through the picturesque landscape of this district to the 900–year old Benedictine Abbey of Melk, which features Austria’s finest Italian baroque architecture.
Day 9: Sunday 13 September 2015 Passau (FB,L,D)
Cruise along the Danube this morning, in the afternoon we reach Passau. On your walking tour, stroll through the old town’s narrow alleys and see the hilltop Oberhaus Fortress from the town below. Visit St. Stephen’s Cathedral, a wonderful example of Baroque architecture and home to Europe’s largest church organ with more than 17,000 pipes. Day 10: Monday 14 September Regensburg – Kelheim (FB,L,D)
After breakfast we arrive in magnificent Regensburg. On our guided walking tour you’ll have the chance to see one of the oldest bridges crossing the Danube and see the city’s architectural highlights including the Old Town Hall. Day 11: Tuesday 15 September 2015 Nuremberg (FB,L,D)
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of the historic city of Nuremberg. See the storybook 900–year–old ramparts, the Imperial Castle and the Justice Palace. The city tour leads you to the major sights of the city, from the medieval beginnings to the present. We then head to the Nazi party rally grounds and take a self–guided tour of the WWII Documentation Centre. You’re Invited: This evening enjoy an EU Lecture.
Day 12: Wednesday 16 September 2015 Bamberg (FB,L,D)
This morning we arrive at Bamberg. Feel the magic of the past as you explore this UNESCO World Heritage city with your guide today. Boasting one of Europe’s largest intact medieval town centres, Bamberg is bursting with original character and charm. At the centre of the town is the largest preserved old quarter in Europe. Around 2,400 listed buildings and the centuries–old garden quarter form a special cultural heritage.
Day 13: Thursday 17 September 2015 Würzburg (FB,L,D)
Known as the “Pearl of the Romantic Road”, Würzburg is surrounded by sloping hills covered with vineyards. After breakfast, we join our guide for a walking tour of Würzburg followed by a visit to the Bishops’ Residenz, one of Germany’s largest and most ornate baroque palaces and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Day 14: Friday 18 September 2015 Miltenberg (FB,L,D)
Travel to the picturesque village of Miltenberg on the Main River. The village creates an imitable feeling of Bavarian life in the middle ages and the Old Town is lined with well– preserved half–timbered buildings. The gothic Merchant Hall Is an impressive symbol of past affluence created by trade from river traffic. Upon returning to the ship, discover the methods of traditional glassblowing in a private demonstration on board.
Day 15: Saturday 19 September 2015 Rüdesheim – Koblenz (FB,L,D)
After breakfast arrive at Rüdesheim, one of Germany’s most popular towns. Join the “Winzerexpress” mini– train ride to Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Instrument Museum, where your guided tour features displays of self–playing instruments. Today’s cruising will be a highlight of your trip, as we meander through the spectacular Rhine Gorge. We’ll pass the infamous Lorelei Rock where sailors are said to have been lured onto treacherous rocks by enchanted temptresses. After viewing countless hilltop castles we arrive into the beautiful 2,000 year old town of Koblenz.
Day 16: Sunday 20 September 2015 Koblenz – Cologne HD (FB,L,HD)
The ship sails from Koblenz in the early morning, cruising along the Rhine we arrive in Cologne. Founded by the Romans, Cologne is one of Germany’s oldest cities and is famous for its magnificent World– Heritage listed Gothic Cathedral. Join your guide this morning and explore the city including the Old Town with its beautiful squares and historical monuments. This evening the captain will be delighted to welcome you to the Captain’s Gala Dinner.
Day 17: Monday 21 September 2015 Cruising – Amsterdam (FB,L,D)
The ship sails along the Amsterdam Rijnkanaal and into intriguing Amsterdam. This afternoon we join a glass top canal boat cruise and explore the city’s maze of canals. Cruise past 16th century merchant houses and charming churches, dating back to Holland’s Golden Age, followed by a walking orientation of the city centre. You then have free time to soak up the lively atmosphere of the city. This evening join your fellow travellers for a farewell dinner.
Day 18: Tuesday 22 September 2015 Disembarkation Amsterdam – Paris (FB)
After breakfast disembark the ship and journey by coach to Paris, via Brussels. After checking into your hotel, your Tour Director is on hand to introduce you to Paris and make suggestions for dinner. Three Night Stay: Paris
Day 19: Wednesday 23 September 2015 Paris (FB,HD)
A sightseeing tour with a local guide takes you to see Notre Dame Cathedral famous for the tale of Quasimodo, the hunchback of Notre Dame. See the Obelisk in the centre of the Place de la Concorde and drive along the elegant Champs Élysees to the Arc de Triomphe. Enjoy a cruise along the River Seine finishing at the Eiffel Tower. This tour will give you an excellent overview of the city and help you choose what you would like to do in your free time. Our day is completed with a Parisian highlight dinner.
Day 20: Thursday 24 September 2015 Paris (FB)
Sightseeing is an endless pleasure in Paris, and your Tour Director is on hand to help you plan your day to explore the romance capital of the world. Discover More: Palace of Versailles and/or Lido Parisian cabaret (additional expense)
Day 21: Friday 25 September 2015 Depart Paris (FB)
After breakfast, this morning you will be transferred* to Charles de Gaulle International Airport for your onward or home bound flight.
